Efficient gluing of V-grooves

For successful gluing of a V-groove, a so-called positioning profile is suitable, which ensures high accuracy in the gluing process through precise interlocking. To produce such a profile on a workpiece, no extra units are needed in the processing machine for V-groove milling. The process is carried out by a modified tool on the existing aggregates.

 

Combined milling of nose and groove

The positioning profile is created by leaving the nose (positive profile shape) when milling the miter. The groove (negative profile shape) can be milled together with the glue pocket using a combined tool. This means that there is no extra machining step for the positioning profile.

The advantages of the positioning profile

Compared to the Tape-Applicator the stabilisation of the V-groove by the positioning profile offers some advantages:

  • More compact: The use of a tape applicator is saved. This makes the processing machine more compact.
  • More efficient: With these combined machining steps, the process is very time-efficient, ensures a higher feed rate and thus increased output.
  • Less material consumption: The material of the tape, which must have a high quality and specific properties, is saved in the positioning profile.
