V-Groove Milling

Miter milling machine for the production of carcasses, housings & door jambs

LEHBRINK’s automated miter milling machines are renowned for their seamless processing in V-groove milling and outstanding precision. The high-end systems produce perfect results, whether stationary or in through-feed mode and are designed to process industrial-scale volumes, even for batch size one production. These machining centers are ideal for furniture manufacture, the production of cabinets and housings, as well as the manufacture of door jambs and can be easily combined with LEHBRINK solutions for additional processing steps, such as gluing and pressing.

Woodworking machines from LEHBRINK allow customized solutions:

  • High-volume series production, even for batch size one
  • Reliable precision
  • High reliability combined with smooth workflows
  • Seamless combination with subsequent processing steps
  • Miter milling in longitudinal or cross through-feed
  • Little to no set-up times, depending on the model (batch size one)

V-Groove Milling in longitudinal pass

Depending on customer requirements, the folding machine consists for example of a trimming saw, a profiling saw and a miter saw, which process the workpieces longitudinally or transversely during V-groove milling. The solid and robust machine design guarantees highest processing precision and quality.

The following work steps can be carried out in the machine during longitudinal V-groove milling:

  • The following work steps can be carried out in the machine during longitudinal V-groove milling:
  • Trimming the workpiece edges and equalizing the surface
  • Miter cutting left & right
  • Depending on the material (e.g. Melamine a scoring saw is needed
  • Tape applicator for stabilizing the V-groove
  • Milling centering grooves and glue pockets

V-groove Milling in transverse pass

The folding router consists of a high-quality miter saw, which carries out V-groove milling in the crosswise direction by means of movable units. For this purpose, the tools move precisely over the workpiece and thus make optimal machining possible.

The following work steps can be carried out in the machine during V-groove milling in crossfeed:

  • Miter milling
  • Depending on the material (e.g. melamine) with pre-scoring device
  • Tape applicator for stabilizing the V-groove

Adhesive tape application

With the help of the tape applicator, an adhesive tape is applied to stabilize the workpiece during the gluing process and acts as a folding hinge. This ensures exact positioning during gluing. Other alternatives here are a flexible coating or a positioning profile

Gluing and folding system

After inserting the V-groove into the workpiece, the workpiece is transported to the gluing press, in which it is automatically folded into a cabinet. The Hotmelt glue is applied intermittently or continuously on the groove to ensure exact glue amounts. In addition, a PVAc spray unit is used to spray a fine amount of glue into the bottom of the profile. Thus, the optimal hold of the cabinet is guaranteed.

In the folding system, the workpiece is automatically folded into a cabinet by means of a left and right electro-motor actuated folding device with a driven belt. This prevents the parts from moving to the side so that an optimal end result can be achieved in the pressing station.
