Fitting insertion

High performance in a compact design

In the ZBM-730 machine, fittings are assambled from above into the back of the door frames and from below into the rebate of the U-frame. Three parts can be screwed in at the same time.

During processing, the frame is positioned with the visible side facing down and the open U-shaped side facing up. The machine is designed to be particularly compact and space-saving, as it combines the following processes:

  • Assembly of hinge pockets (using four screws from above)
  • Assembly of reinforcing plates for 3D strips (using five screws from above)
  • Mounting strike plates from below (using two screws from above and three screws from below)

In addition, three angle drilling units can be installed for the subsequent wall mounting of fire-rated door frames.

The fitting insertion machine is only 4,500 mm long, while the workpieces can have a standard length of approximately 2,200 mm.

Machining process for fitting insertion

To maximize production output, three hinge pockets or three reinforcement plates are simultaneously positioned on the hinge side of the door frame and screwed into place.
For this purpose, the system is equipped with eight screwdriving units, which are located as follows:

  • two on the three aggregates from above
  • two on the aggregat from below

The upper screwdrivers can be fed fully automatically with two different lengths of screws from a single hopper each. The feeding of the hinge pockets, reinforcement plates, and strike plates is also automatic.

The strike plates are loaded into the magazines manually because they consist of two components and cannot be fed fully automatically. They are then placed into the door frame from the magazines using a gripper, so that only the loading of the magazines is done manually.

The hinge pockets and reinforcement plates, on the other hand, are separated by vibrating conveyors and fed to the units fully automatically. To ensure rapid processing, the angle drilling units are also mounted on the support and can be controlled simultaneously with the fitting insertion units.
